LEARN MORELeased Line FAQ’s
What is a leased line?
A leased line connection is a dedicated high speed data connection between a customer’s premises and ISP/Service Providers point of presence or data centre.
A leased line provides symmetrical speeds so upload speed and download speed is the same where typical broadband connectivity is asymmetrical with download speeds being higher than upload.
A leased line delivers low latency, uncontended, reliable connectivity for businesses that are reliant on cloud, VOIP telephony, remote working services and uptime is key to business performance.
What carriers do Stream use for Leased Lines?
Stream own and operates our own fibre network that connects to over 30 different carriers including BTNet, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, Openreach, SSE, CityFibre, Vodafone and a host of new altnet fibre optic providers.
What Service Level Agreement does a leased line provide?
A leased line delivers a 4-hour fix to major service outage ensuring if your service has an issue an engineer will be onsite to fix your service within 4 hours, 24x7x365. A leased line delivers a better SLA compared to a standard broadband connection where fix time can be as much as 48 hours or longer. Read our Ultimate guide to Leased Lines below
Learn moreWhat is the difference between a leased line and a Fibre Broadband (FTTP, FTTC, Gigabit Broadband)?
A leased line is a dedicated fibre optic connection providing symmetrical, uncontended speeds with a guaranteed fix time where a business broadband connection is typically shared with other users at peak times, delivers asymmetrical speeds and the fix time can be up to 48 hours. Learn moreHow long does it take to install a Leased Line and what is the process?
A leased line can be installed from as little as 20 working days if fibre is already present in your building however, average install time is 65 working days. Once your order is accepted Stream networks will send a site survey engineer to your premises to plan your fibre installation and determine if any excess construction charges are identified to deliver your service. Learn moreWhat is the difference between a leased line and EOFTTC / EFM?
EOFTTC stands for Ethernet Over FTTC. FTTC is a technology that provides fibre optic connectivity to the local street cabinet with copper connecting your premises to the street cabinet where a leased line delivers fibre end to end. An EOFTTC connection only provides speeds of up to 80 Mbps download and 20Mbps upload where a leased line provides up to 10Gbs symmetrical speeds.
